Welcome to the Bake section of the website!
Here you will find things I have been working on and some informative videos too! (And maybe a little singing!)
While the ideal would be a clay oven, this makeshift bread oven worked out well and didn’t take long to build. Makes excellent pizza crust but did use up a lot of wood Luckily collecting firewood is one of my favourite things to do ❤️
How long do you knead bread dough?
Knead as long as the song! Song of the Lower Classes – a song that mentions bread.
Baking bread and campfire singing
This is how we do baking at forest school Did you know the word “companion” comes from the Latin “con pane” which literally means “with bread”? The song is “Let No Man Steal Your Thyme“ – a traditional English folk song And that’s a special Nutella star bread!
No better way to spend one’s mornings and evenings – cooking outside with the birds singing all around.
Community Baking Days
I run community baking days where I teach you how to bake your own bread! Keep an eye on the bake event pages for these.
Sometime they come as part of a wild foraging event which can be found in the eat events – check them out!
“Thank you for the enjoyable, very engaging and ever useful event (mindful calzone baking). It helped to confirm the merits of mindfulness and especially of the importance of the ”Here and now.”
“Thanks for a great day and for helping me to achieve something that I never thought I would”Anthony L (chef of 25 years who had never baked bread!)
“The event….(Community Bake) enabled me to bake bread in a social setting which again made the activity infinitely more enjoyable.”Julian N
